No Leaked Spoilers. But, possible spoilers based on opinion. Thanks to my favorite Whovian website and BBCA for the promo pics.

Some of us who were not privy to the DVD-hoopla that just happened a few days ago, are still full off anticipated excitement although we know that the forthcoming end of the season will render us with so many reactions.

“Friendly-spoilers” for the finale (including ramblings), here.

Guesses: (Please do not read if you don’t want any possible spoilers. You’ve been warned.)

From the promo pics and videos (not posted here), we will see Clara with past Doctors. Possibly all 11 of them. As she is destined to save the Doctor, I’m guessing she’ll try to save each one of them and die in the process.

I’m still trying to figure out how River plays into this. Since she already knows the Doctor’s name, I presume she will be using that as a key to something. She might also be the one who gave Clara the Doctor’s number (woman in the shop). Or perhaps even responsible for all of Clara’s existence throughout the past Doctor’s lives.

Silence will fall…imho…should be taken literally. I don’t think the line is related to the monsters called The Silence. So does this mean that when his name is mentioned, silence will fall? We know that Dr. Simeon asks him for his name…does he answer or does River or someone else reply?

Now, do I really want to know the name of the Doctor? Not really. I just want the mystery and adventure to continue.

Anyhoo, all speculation. A few more days and we’ll be watching the finale. I shall be offline to avoid any spoiler-slip-ups. Woot.

The Bells of Saint John re-affirmed my fear of social media, how it promotes cyber-stalking and possibly being acted out in person. Who knew how, despite working for The Great Intelligence, humans can be susceptible to peer pressure via social media. This reminded me to check all information posted to these sites to make sure privacy is still respected.

Allow me to post some random notes from the last few episodes, which I had to watch a few times.

SPOILER ALERT. You’ve been warned.

The Bells of Saint John

Clara mentions getting The Doctor’s number from the Woman at the Shop. Hmmm. It can’t be Amy because she would’ve been dead by then, unless she picked the companion while traveling with the Doctor in an intercepted timeline. It might have been Sarah Jane Smith, according to some but I don’t really know what might be her reasons for giving her the number. It could have been River Song, since she more than everyone else works like the Doctor. It could also be any other character. Mrrrp.
Angie mentions Nina and tells Clara, “You can call her mum.” Is this the same Nina she might have mentioned in AotD?
Ponds Nostalgia via Summer Falls, in which Clara mentions “Chapter Eleven.” As a side note: Barnabas.
The Great Intelligence is back, this time showing an unembodied, almost ethereal, head of Dr. Simeon whom we first met in The Snowmen.
The Doctor has no knowledge of TGI’s existence in the episode.
I am somehow inclined to believe that TGI is Clara’s ‘secret controller’, like how The Silence was to River.
The Spoonheads remind me of CAL’s Library Minions.
Kizlet’s, “Where are my mummy and daddy?” line brings back memories of The Empty Child. (Yet another Moffat epi.) “Mummy? Are you my mummy?
Lastly, I presume the Monk Outfit is the same one from The Wedding of River Song, where the Doctor hears about the “prophecy”.

The Rings of Akhaten

The old god reminds me of an over-indulgent parent who thinks he can get away with his misgivings and selfishness only because he claims to be “the parent”, granting ignorance to his children and leaving them to believe that they are meant to be that way.
The Doctor references visiting before with his granddaughter (Susan Foreman).
Filled with at least 50 different alien life-forms, I noticed that the only people not using any facial prosthetics are the Doctor and Clara. The episode brings me back to Star Wars. Now, all I need is Hans Solo to drive me around the planet. Oh wait, that’s what the Doctor does.
Clara confronts the Doctor about seeing him by her mum’s gravestone. She manages to get some truth from him. He tells her that she reminds her of someone. Someone who died. She easily remarks, “Well, whoever she was, I’m not her, okay? If you want me to travel with you, that’s fine. But as me. I’m not a bargain basement stand-in for someone else. I’m not going to compete with a ghost. “
Anyone notice that the Doctor’s character seems to have matured quite a bit in this episode? Perhaps it has started sooner but it just seems quite obvious in this one.
Did the Doctor actually cry WITH TEARS in this episode? Ok, one tear. One painful tear. “I have lost things you will never understand. And I know things. Secrets that must never be told. Knowledge that must never be spoken. Knowledge that will make parasite gods blaze. So come on, then. Take it!” Reminds me of Pandorica.
A Grandfather and an Old God. Is that some sort of parallelism with the Doctor and the Universe?
In Clara’s book (formerly her Mom’s), the age 11 was written by her mum. However, age 16 and 23 are missing from the list. 11/13 was when Classic Who first aired, but what might 16 signify? Clara was born in 1989, the same year Classic Who was cancelled. There was a 16-year hiatus before New Who came to life. Is that it?
I feel like Ellie has a big but blurry part in the reveal behind the Clara Who mystery.

Cold War

Hungry Like A Wolf. Like Bad Wolf?
The background ticking/clicking/tapping sound when Skaldak is around reminds me of the Silence.
Clara is, again, a big part of “saving the world.” So far, in the last few epis, she’s the one who’s been succeeding.
This is not a test.
Clara, probably the first non-wandering companion?
The Doctor mentions his famous line, “Time can be rewritten.” But, of course, we know that once it’s set into stone, it cannot be altered anymore. So, what exactly is he trying to “rewrite”?
It’s Red! The light is Red!
In the end, the Tardis seemed to have run away — not gone to safety.
What’s with the Barbie Doll?

As Moffat describes it, a proper ghost story. Yay!
She’s…she’s…dead. Uhm, what? Who?
Triple parallel!
Witch of the Well. Why that reference?
The music room is the heart of the house.
Woof. There goes the creature. It really never harms them, and since this was a love story, the Doctor tells us that even monsters need companions.
Gasp! The Silence! Crack in the Wall!
According to the Tardis, the person Clara holds highest esteem for is herself. Clara meets Clara Too! But, what does the Tardis have against her?
The ghast, Hila, is a time traveller trapped in a pocket universe. Is that a hint?
Clara refers to her…and other humans…as ghosts. What are we to you?
Whiskey is the 11th most disgusting thing ever invented. (Are you nuts???)
Sticks out like a Big Chin.
The oldest story in the universe. A love story. Wink, wink.
Blood. Empathic psychic connection worked because Hila and Emma are related. But Clara at some point “felt” what the monster felt. Telepathic versus empathic versus psychic connections. Clara randomly says I’m not happy right after the creature passes by. Empathic transference again?

This episode: the importance of a companion

General Observations:

Clara seems to be more “obedient” than other companions (Bells, moving forward). This was sorta pointed out by A & M in relation to her non-wandering persona in The Cold War.
She sort of mirrors certain qualities of the Doctor so she might be a representation of him as well.
Her trying to prove herself is quite refreshing. She is confident but it’s nice to see someone who is seeking approval from the Doctor.
There seems to be a constant connection to the Ponds. Snowmen: her single word message was Pond. In Bells, we encounter Summer Falls; a book written by Amelia Williams (Amy Pond).
Based on the numerical “clues”, Clara seems to represent certain points in time of the Who Series. It’s birth, it’s death, and it’s resurrection. The series is expected to die at least twice, the first one in 1989. The second, when the series comes to a complete close. Does 23 rather relate to its come back after an 18-month hiatus as well?

DORIUM: Silence must fall would be a better translation. The Silence are determined the question will never be answered. That the Doctor will never reach Trenzalore.
DOCTOR: I don’t understand. What’s it got to do with me?
DORIUM: The first question. The oldest question in the universe, hidden in plain sight. Would you like to know what it is?
DOCTOR: Yes.
DORIUM: Are you sure? Very, very sure?
DOCTOR: Of course.
DORIUM: Then I shall tell you. But on your own head be it.

DOCTOR: And silence would fall. All the times I’ve heard those words, I never realised it was my silence, my death. The Doctor will fall. Why are we here?
CHURCHILL: This, this is the Senate Room.

Ok, as much as I would want to spend more time on this entry, the past few weeks have just been chaotic. So here are my disheveled ramblings:

IMHO, the FALL referred to this has something to do with The Doctor FALLING IN LOVE.

And, we might have already “seen” Trenzalore, hidden in plain sight. It might be in the Library.

From the (controlled) spoilers we’ve seen online, we already know these:

Synopsis, “Every journey taken by a time-traveller tears a wound in the fabric of reality, and the Doctor has time-travelled more than anyone.

But the trail runs cold in Trenzalore, the one place in all of time and space that he should never go. The most dangerous place in the universe… Who is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him to Trenzalore? Could the Fall of the Eleventh be nigh? Or does an impossible girl hold the key?

The Doctor’s past, present, and future lives are in grave danger… and his greatest secret is about to be revealed.”

Nightmare in Silver beckons that the coin is the key. Are these related?

Then, we have a quote from The Doctor, “The path I carved through time and space, from Gallifrey to Trenzalore. My own personal time tunnel, leading back to every moment I ever lived. Every step, every tear, every kiss. Even the days I haven’t lived yet. Which is why I shouldn’t be here. The paradoxes… very bad…”

Matt Smith was also remarked, “With the 50th, this is going to be by far the biggest year in the history of the show. And the finale is just the start. It focuses on a pivotal moment in the Doctor’s life and the life of his companion. It’s a complete game changer and it all starts now.”

I interpret that as…(1) The finale will hold a giant cliffhanger which will be dealt with in the 50th. (2) The 50th will have a bigger cliffhanger which will torment us Whovians because it’ll take a while before the next season begins. (3) The 11th is not set to DIE yet being that there’s the 50th and Matt Smith has signed up for Season 8. But, he might exit then. Hopefully, not. (4) Game changer. Is it a relationship game changer or a storyline-character game changer? I hope it’s the latter…but not enough of a game changer that messes up with the premise of the show.

Next, Richard E Grant is back as Dr. Simeon. “Hello again,” says the Doctor. “How’s the Intelligence – still Great?” Yup, as expected, the GI is back.

After being “silent” for a bit, River Song is back. We last saw her in the Angels-Pond-Exit epi. She returns as her Post-Library self. “Oh, I do like to watch a man think; it’s like watching a whale knit!”.

Post-Library River. Did River really die because of the Big Bang reboot? If she really did “die” but her energy print was stored in CAL, someone might have figured out how to get her out of there. Or…perhaps she is the one leading all of the Doctor’s friends to Trenzalore so she can have a proper goodbye. Is Trenzalore the “world” in CAL’s db? Is that why his name is threatened to be revealed because she knows it? No one else knows it, just her and the Doctor.

On rumors about the love triangle. I am on the fence about that. First of all, The Wedding of River Song happened on an alternate timeline. So, basically, it didn’t exactly happen. I would love Eleven to still be her Sweetie but Whouffle is quite difficult to resist. And yes, one of the spoilers for this Saturday’s episode has something to do with the Eleven revealing to have romantic feelings for Clara.

More on River…
Moffat says: “You never quite know what the Doctor feels. I don’t think you ever should.”

“There’s more snogging,” Moffat says.

And, there hasn’t been a “proper doom-fraught episode” in a while. The episode deals with death. In a funeral atmosphere (literally). When asked if everyone make it to the end of the episode alive? Moffat says: No.

On Clara, we are supposed to know more about her true identity.

Regarding the episode title, The Name of The Doctor…it’s been mentioned in the promos using these words, “threatened to be revealed” or “about to be revealed”. Yep, don’t be mislead. It might be told revealed to a character but most likely not to the audience.

Meantime, I am looking forward to a Jekyll & Hyde type episode this Saturday. So much duality in the last few epis. Hmmm.

I leave you with the latest catch-phrase for S7’s finale, “Stand by for something that you might always have believed to be impossible…”
