The top 12 perform songs by Lennon & McCartney on the new AI stage.

The judges are still situated on the "VIP" elevated section in front.
Randy Jackson gave contradictory reviews -- he told the contestants who changed the songs a bit that they shouldn't have done that, and he told the ones who didn't change them that they should have done something else different with the song. Go figure.
Paula Abdul, in her usual adorable self, sounded like a static cellphone conversation (unfortunately). Phrase of the night: "I feel your heart".
Simon, blunt as he is, reviewed each performance as it is.
Here are my comments:
Brilliant
- Jason Castro - If I Fell - Loved it. Some folks might find his performance a bit ordinary. I enjoyed it. I believe JC is staying true to his style. He has an imperfect but comely voice.
- Carly Smithson - Come Together - One of my favorite Beatles songs. The irish gal is definitely in it to win.
- David Cook - Eleanor Rigby - In my opinion, the performance of the night.
- Brooke White - Let It Be - A little melodramatic but good. I love her voice. I love how her performances feel so genuine.
- Michael Johns - Across The Universe - Favorite Beatles song EVER. Favorite contestant this season.
Good, but not my cup o'tea
- Syesha Mercado - Got To Get You Into My Life - Just a bit too plain for me.
- Chikezie Eze - She's A Woman - No comment.
- Ramielle Malubay - In My Life - her performance was a bit disappointing. I love her voice but she just needs to give it some more effort. What happened to her powerful voice? Did it go home with DN?
- David Hernandez - I Saw Her Standing There - I agree that this was a bit over the top.
- Amanda Overmyer - You Can't Do That - Janis Joplin, I love. But slurring Janis is not for me.
Yikes
- Kristy Lee Cook - 8 Days a Week - Absolutely horrible (sorry!). The arrangement was terrible. She has no stage presence. Someone needs to choreograph her performance, sure. I think she's going home tonight.
- David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out - Whoopsie! Someone forgot his lyrics.
