Ok, so we didn't miss much because of the Writer's strike. Just a few reality-tv shows that finale-d.

The Next Great American Band
The producers of American Idol host a news competition series, in search of The Next Great American Band. Using a similar judging system as Idol, each week bands perform and face the public vote. John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls), Sheila E., and Australian TV personality Ian "Dicko" Dickson ("Australian Idol") serve as judges. Dominic Bowden ("New Zealand Idol") hosts.

Unfortunately, I had to look up who won because I haven't heard anything about the show when I came back. Congratulations to the Clark Brothers for winning the title.

America's Most Smartest Model
Yes, I watched the show. C'mon. It's funny.

Fourteen models, (7 men, 7 women) all of whom think they could be the smartest in America, live together as they compete to determine which of them has what it takes to be dubbed "America's Most Smartest Model" -- The perfect combination of Beauty and Brains.

Oi, their website is uber slow. And it took forever to find out who won...and I didn't find it on their site. I guess I'm not "most smartest"-enough. Hahahahaha. Anyhoot, VJ was victorious.

Guys, what do you think? Is he or is he not...?

Miss America 2008
I used to love watching Miss America, until I got tired of watching a stiff beauty pageant that had young women looking like Stepford wives. Everyone smiled and posed the same way. Everyone's answer to every question ended with World Peace. Sure, we all want World Peace.

These days, the pageant prefers to be referred to as a scholarship program since the swimsuit & evening gown competition only comprises 35 percent of a candidate's total score.

Who knew that Miss America needed a makeover? TLC did, and a million other viewers. "We're trying to make the contestants real, and relatable, and make their style and fashion more relatable to younger viewers," said Brent Zacky, TLC's vice president of programming. However, after watching the live pageant (post the reality check series), I was still disappointed. The girls who received positive feedback and attention during the series were not all included in the top 16. I don't even recall noticing this year's winner. But don't get me wrong, she is pretty & she answered fairly well in the Onstage Questioning section. I just don't know if TLC was successful in changing the face of Miss America.

Congratulations and good luck to Miss Michigan, Kirsten Haglund for winning the title of Miss America 2008.
