Have you had some Horlicks lately? The last time I had some Horlicks candy (like Ovaltinees) was when Prunee brought some to the house. I have not had the drink in ten years.

Tey, C, and I were looking for an after lunch tea place on Friday and we ended up at the Golden Island Cafe. We were browsing through the menu, oggling over the fruit drinks and desserts, when we saw a familiar drink. Horlicks!

What is Horlicks? In some countries, like the Philippines, Horlicks was sold as milky-chocolate-flavored disks in paper packets, which were then eaten as candy. Horlicks is manufactured in the UK and promoted as a malted milk hot drink claimed to promote sleep.

Visit their website: http://www.horlicks.co.uk

From the Nutritional Guide:
Horlicks is a nutritional drink made from wheat, malted barley and milk. It is fortified with iron and eight essential vitamins. One serving of Horlicks contains twice the calcium content of a glass of fresh milk.

Fun Facts:

  • Horlicks can be enjoyed in over 15 countries worldwide.

  • Horlicks was first invented to substitute milk as baby food.

  • In India, two billion cups of Horlicks are drunk every year.

  • Horlicks is consumed by over 120 million people daily and enjoy an annual growth rate of over 22% in global sales.

  • In Britain, South Africa and Australia, Horlicks is positioned as a sleep enhancing night time drink.

  • Where there’s a problem taking solid food, Horlicks can provide the nutrition that would otherwise be missing from the diet.

  • People on special diets, including liquid diets or any diet devised for gastric disorders, can benefit from the nutritional convenience of Horlicks.

Mmmmm!
