I was wrong.
Tonight, Len Goodman (head judge) vaguely explained the "rules". Rule number one: No Lifts. Rule number two: Couples have ten seconds at the beginning of the dance and another ten seconds before it ends to do their "own thing". Rule number three: all throughout the middle part of the dance, the couples should respect the rules specific to each type of dance. For example, in the Tango, the couples are expected not to lose hold of eachother.
Yesterday, these couples broke the rules:
Willa Ford + Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Joey Lawrence + Edyta Sliwinska
Mario Lopez + Karina Smirnoff
Emmitt Smith + Cheryl Burke
So, who got voted off?
Not Willa. Not any of these "rule breakers".
Sad to say, the very dedicated and hardworking Harry Hamlin did not get enough votes to stay in the competition. No one was more disappointed than his partner, Ashly DelGrosso, who from last season had the rotten luck of being partnered with a very disinterested "celebrity". Oh well.
My favorite is still in the running. Joey Lawrence was very apologetic for "breaking the rules". I still hope that they would post these rules on their website -- including the rules specific to a dance style. They already have the dance style information posted.
Next week: Waltz and Paso Doble.
Ole!
