« I Cannot Sleep! |Main| Fly-Day! »

It's not just another smurfy day in the Smurf Village. There's chaos everywhere!

The first adult version of the Smurfs, UNICEF's Belgian office uses the Smurfs in their new fundraising plan. This 30-second video is, surprisingly, a means to get viewers to donate money to help children in war-torn regions.

The toon video is set to begin airing regularly next week, in Belgium, until April 2006. At the end of the clip, you will see the tagline, "Don't let war affect the lives of children."

On the otherhand, for some of us who prefer to see the Smurfs unscathed, a 3D CGI Smurfs movie is set to be in US theaters in 2008. According to Eonline!, this will be the first in a planned trilogy.

I can't believe I missed this! As far as I can remember, the first time I saw the Smurfs-toon was in 1981. The last time? I can't recall. Over the weekend, I was just wondering why they haven't released a boxed set of the toons.

Anyhow, if you want to find out more about the Smurfs, you can visit the Official Website. Wikipedia also has an entry about them.
