I'm on my five-minute mid-morning break. While eating my chicken empanada, I could hear Whispering Wilhelmina again.
Ever since we were moved from offices to cubes, people have been conscious when they say something so that they don't distract anyone who's working. Prior to moving here, I was already working in a cube and didn't find it bothersome.
It's only now that I feel annoyed whenever I hear someone trying to whisper instead of talking in a regular voice. Take Whispering Wilhelmina as an example. Not only do I notice that she likes to go from one cube to another chit-chatting about other people, but her feeble effort to avoid auditory pollution is actually making things worse.
I have always found it easy to zone-out sound whenever I am working. But I am now having trouble zoning out the unsolicited information I am hearing all day. Heck, I've even tried using my headphones but I can still hear parts of her hisses!
If only I could find the mute button...
