Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince SPOILER ALERT!

Chapter Twenty: Lord Voldemort's Request

    Synopsis

Hermione is friends with Ron again. Ginny is arguing with Dean (and Harry's happy about that).

Luna hands a note to Harry containing another invite from Dumbledore.

During their lesson, Dumbledore tells Harry that he (Harry) needs to extract Slughorn's true memory before they can meet again. They continue discussing Tom Riddle.

AD tells Harry that during Tom Riddle's last year, he requested to remain at Hogwarts as a teacher. His request was declined because he was too young to be a professor.

Then, they visit these two memories.

Memory One (Hokey, the House Elf): In her memory, Voldemort is visiting Hokey's mistress, Hepzibah Smith. H. Smith shows the charming but greedy Voldemort two of her priced possessions: a HufflePuff Badger (Cup), and Slytherin's necklace.

Memory Two (Dumbledore): Voldemort visits Dumbledore at Hogwarts and asks the headmaster if he can return and teach the Defense for the Dark Arts class.

In this chapter, we see that no matter how powerful AD appears to be -- Voldemort still seems to disregard this and thinks that he is better than all the rest.

Dumbledore also mentions to Voldemort that he is aware of what Voldemort has done in order to be what he is right then. Voldemort replied with this line:

Greatness inspires envy, envy engenders spite, spite spawns lies.

Am I the only one who hears Yoda talking here???
